Scoresheets for Seamheads with Word Hammers.
3/2026 Revisions:
• Sheets now have a subtle blue/grey tint for better contrast.
• A new legal sized sheet (8 1/2 x 14) adds space to include a line score at the top; expanded details for venue and game attendance; more pitching slots (8) and pitching totals; dedicated notes spaces for each team.
A bit of background: A couple of weeks before MLB Opening Day 2025, I created the 10/6 Baseball Scoresheet for Typewriters and presented it to baseball fan and typewriter enthusiast Tom Hanks. I'd read & heard rumors that he would occasionally take a typewriter to a ball game to keep score. I thought there should be a sheet for that. Tom tested it (below) and returned it with no suggestions for changes.

Tom Hanks used a Hermes 3000 with Epoca font to test this sheet. This sheet now resides in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
After Tom posted this sheet to Instagram there was immediate interest from the scoring and typing communities. Some further testing by a small group followed and, after some minor tweaks, the sheets are ready for all to enjoy.
Those of you not familiar with typewriters should understand that not all machines are equal. There are different pitches in type, characters per inch, lines per inch; variations of fonts — Pica, Elite, Cursive, Techno, Gothic, etc. Creating a scoresheet to suit all possibilities wasn't feasible so a compromise was made.
The two variants included here were designed on grids for American typewriters using characters per inch specs of 10 CPI (Pica) and 12 CPI (Elite), on 6 Lines Per Inch. This should cover most machines and typefaces. For example, if you own a Remington, Royal, or Smith Corona, you're probably in luck.
That said, the sheets will generally work with nearly any typewriter, but the character grid and line spacing may not align across and down the sheet — you'll need to make adjustments as you go.

Above: Example of a 10 CPI grid on the first prototype. Pink areas show character cell alignment.
Details: Sheets were designed in Adobe Illustrator and are available in shaded and unshaded ledger variants. The new blue/grey grid color is specially mixed for contrast and to print well in greyscale by default for those without a color printer.
Letter Size Sheet (10 CPI example, above): Space for 10 innings, one substitution per batting slot, 3x3 scoring cells, basic box totals, 5 pitchers.

Legal Size Sheet (12 CPI example, above): Additional space allows addition line score at the top, expanded game details, double space for 'R' and 'H' in batters columns, eight pitching slots with totals, dedicated notes for each team.

How to use the sheets: Download, Print, Register, Type. You can 'register' the sheet using the small home plate at the top and aligning it with your type guide. However, in real use, the registration will inevitably drift. I find myself realigning and adjusting to the grid lines as I score. Expect to spend a bit time figuring out the nuance.

Completed test sheet for Cubs @ Dodgers.
